The most concrete parts of the talk came at the end when he graciously answered questions. Surprisingly, given the potential for abuse, the Q&A session went rather well. (The funniest part was when he was asked to pardon someone – I’m not sure who – and he let out an audible sigh at the podium before giving the expected answer that he does not believe this person should be pardoned.) In particular, someone asked about the conditions required for peace. Peres responded by saying that in the past Israel wanted land over security. Today, he said, even the right-wing of Israel no longer believes that it’s rational to take land over security. (Apparently the infitadas have done some damage to the Israeli psyche.) * Ending in Inviso-text: HRG and Eric Roberts discuss what to do with Claire as HRG turns her over to the Company. They have RM and Matt captured and sedated at Primatech. HRG drives Claire out to the desert, then the Haitian shoots him in the stomach and erases his memory so the Company can’t find her. At times Peres was funny. He drew laughter when he said that the Middle East is composed of two kinds of nations: holy and oily (e.g. Israel and everybody else). When someone brought up the idea of dependence on oil, he readily agreed that “We prefer the sun over the Saudis. It’s more democratic.”
About a month ago, I started eating way more water-based foods and immediately noticed that I wasn’t as hungry. I’ve eaten more vegetables this year than in all of my 31 years on Earth! I must say that I’m very proud of myself. *Pats self on back*

to mention that I turned 31 in March and it was great! I’m still experiencing some of the changes I wrote about previously, but I’m DEALING with them.

Wow, this is why I love medical school! You learn about some very interesting things that affect the health of us all. For example, today we had a biochemistry conference about fructose intolerance. Without boring you to death, there are two types. With Hereditary Fructose Intolerance, you lack an enzyme in the liver. Your fructose metabolism then gets stuck partway through, which also affects your glucose metabolism, and you have symptoms like hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and vomiting. With Dietary Fructose Intolerance, you have trouble absorbing fructose through the small intestine. All of this fructose in your bowels pulls water into them, and then the bacteria lower in your gut feast on the sugars. This leads to diarrhea and, you guessed it, gas. Fun to think about, eh?
